What is expected from the Board of Advisor members?

Serving on the Board of Advisors of the Center for Retailing Excellence is a privilege which carries with it particular responsibilities.  Participation on the Board is voluntary and requires time, energy and commitment.  The Center is committed to staying focused on serving the industry.  We recognize that active involvement of our board will be critical to staying effective and relevant.

Expertise

  • Attend regularly scheduled board meetings (type and frequency to be determined by the board of advisors)
  • Exhibit leadership skills and be willing to chair committees or task forces for the Board, or accept other leadership tasks as assigned by the Chair.
  • Invest the time and energy necessary to be informed on all Center matters which come for discussion before the Board of Advisors
  • Providing “executive professors” from your company to present at various retail related classes
  • Involvement with the retail club
  • Assist the Center Director in developing policies and strategic plans
  • Advise the Dean and faculty on curriculum
  • Establish an important link between the professional world and the Center
  • Support free and open expression of viewpoints and opinions
