What is the Field Experience in Retailing?
CNSR SCI 602 is a one credit course experiential learning course taken on a credit/no credit basis. The field experience requires completion of a minimum of 100 hours of approved retailing experience and can be an invaluable experience to have before beginning an internship.
The Field Experience in Retailing is intended to provide a bridge between your academic work and the retail industry. There will be a handful of required assignments designed to help you reflect on your learning that are required in addition to the actual hours spent working at the field experience.
How do I enroll in the Field Experience in Retailing?
- Obtain placement verification. <<Application>>.
- Verification of retail employment is required prior to the start of the semester for which the student is registered for field experience credit. The student needs to verify with the store manager or designated supervisor that a required performance evaluation will be completed. Student and company information must be accurate to facilitate correspondence from the University supervisor. This form needs the supervisor’s signature.
- Return completed form to the Field Experience Coordinator for approval
- Field Experience Coordinator will contact you once you’ve been authorized to register for the course
- Register for the course using web enrollment via My UW
- The Field Experience Coordinator will email you the course syllabus and/or other course-related information prior to the start of the semester
