The Ruth Ketterer Harris Special Collection honors the first curator of the Helen Louise Allen Textile Collection and is devoted to the study of textiles and design.

The nucleus of this special collection was a gift from Helen Louise Allen. Generous support over the years has resulted in a growing collection that now includes more than 4,000 books, pamphlets, and journals. A bequest from the estate of Ruth Ketterer Harris doubled the library's holdings and in 1993, integrated the collection within the School of Human Ecology. The library is cataloged in the UW-Madison's electronic library system.
