Background & Interests:

A curator and writer specializing in the craft revivals of the 19th and 20th centuries, Jody Clowes has written extensively on contemporary fiber art, ceramics, and furniture.  Her recent exhibitions include retrospectives of the ceramist Don Reitz and metalsmiths Fred Fenster and Eleanor Moty, both curated for the Chazen Museum of Art. Currently directing the University of Wisconsin’s Design Gallery, she previously served as associate curator of decorative arts for Milwaukee Art Museum and director of exhibitions for Detroit’s Pewabic Pottery. Clowes received her master’s degree from the Winterthur Program in Early American Culture at the University of Delaware and her bachelor’s from Rutgers University.
