Research Interests |
Design and building for the elderly that supports health and wellness is my Design Studies Ph.D. area of specialization. This includes sustainably built environments since I work under the premise that sustainable environments not only support health and wellness but are not possible unless we build in a socially responsible manner.

Financial Aid |
The financial assistance the UW has offered me has varied. This ranged from a partial scholarship to help cover a portion of my out-of-state tuition to offering teaching assistantships with full tuition remission. To date, I have served as the teaching assistant for the courses: Design Studies Graduate Colloquium, People and Environment Interactions, Design Fundamentals II, and Interior Design II.

Background |
I chose to pursue my PhD at the UW for several reasons. First, I wanted to study with Dr. Michael Hunt whose research area is design for the aged. This, in combination with the other resources and courses the UW offers, especially in gerontological studies and in sustainability, allowed me to create a curriculum that would perfectly support my specialization. Also, the city of Madison offers a socially progressive backdrop that provides many opportunities for my research within the community.
