- Employers: Community centers, YMCA or YWCA, consumer protection agencies, summer camp programs, child care providers, programs servicing children with special needs, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, church/religious organizations, profit and nonprofit organizations geared to services for children, youth, or families, group homes, half-way houses, youth service agencies, federal, state, and local government programs (i.e. Department of Welfare and Health), foundations and funding organizations
- HDFS Alumni Positions: Child Advocate, Child/Youth Development Specialist, Foster Care Program Coordinator, School Social Worker, Safety Services Case Manager, Family Center Staff, Volunteer Personnel Director, Family Support Coordinator, Peace Corps Volunteer, Mothers Center Coordinator, Community Relations Director, Extension Program Specialist
- Strategies: Complete the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Early Childhood through the Waisman Center. Obtain certification as a Child Life Specialist. Obtain Family Life Educator certification from the National Council on Family Relations. Obtain a Women’s Studies certification or double-major in Women’s Studies. Apply to graduate programs in human development or family studies.
