General Information and Strategies

• For help with developing your resume, interview skills, and learning more about your career interests, make use of the SoHE/Business Career Services Center.

• Obtain part-time, summer, internship, or volunteer experience in areas of interest

• Obtain certification for specialized areas of interest as necessary and appropriate

• Bachelor’s Degree is usually sufficient for entry-level positions

• Advanced degrees are essential for clinical and therapeutic counseling positions

• Master’s degree or PhD is often necessary for administrative and supervisory positions

• PhD degree required for college teaching and advanced research positions

• Additional specialized training qualifies for higher paying and more responsible positions
