Prospective HDFS Majors
The Undergraduate Major in Human Development and Family Studies offers two options:
The Child Development option provides flexible course work and internship experiences that prepare students to enter into a growing range of careers involving work with young children and their families.
The Family Studies option provides flexible course work and internship experiences that lead to careers in helping families and their members.
Family Studies option majors are committed to improving the quality of individual and family life. They know that the well-being of individuals, regardless of age, can only be ensured if family life supports it. Child Development students want to know how children develop, what factors influence this development, and what can be done to help them thrive. The also respect the diversity among individuals and their families. Our majors bring with them a unique understanding of children and their families.
