Internship Program
TEXTILE & APPAREL DESIGN PROGRAM
An internship in Textile and/or Apparel Design is taken to introduce a student to the skills and techniques they will use upon entering the job force. An internship includes observation and participation in work related to the student’s coursework and major. An apparel or textile designer with experience in the field should supervise the internship from the work site. The internship is completed under the supervision and in consultation with University faculty and staff.
Some examples of internships in Madison include: Fair Indigo, Altered States Alterations, Winter Silks, Madison Repertory Theater and others.
Examples of out-of-town internships include: Chanel (NY), Kenneth Cole Productions (NY), Michael Kors (NY), DKNY (NY), Burberry (London) and other. See TAD master site list
Time Commitment
- TAD = 60 hours per credit (3 credits required for Madison option, not required for NY option)

1. Research Internship Opportunities/Apply for Internships
- Look at the Internship Master Site List for assitance/ideas of internships

2. Complete Internship Placement Verification Form.
3. Submit a Resume, Cover Letter, Job Description, and a Copy of an Acceptance Letter, e-mail, or other correspondence offering you the position, along with your Internship Placement Verification form.

- The application must be TYPED!
- Handwritten Internship Placement Verification Forms WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED!
- After your Internship is approved, you will receive an e-mail from your
internship coordinator with registration instructions.
- If you are not sure that this internship will qualify, check with your internship
coordinator.

Deadlines:
Spring 2010 Internship Placement Verificaiton Form deadline is Monday, January 11.
No application will be considered after the deadline. No exceptions.
If you need an extension - contact internship coordinator BEFORE the deadline.
Internship Orientation Sessions will be the week of January 18th thru the 22nd. Times to be determined.
