Internship Programs

INTERIOR DESIGN PROGRAM

An interior design internship is a structured experiential learning opportunity that supplements the academic program and meets accreditation requirements for the degree. An internship includes both observation and participation in the functions of a design organization under the direction of an interior designer, architect, or similarly trained professional. The internship is completed under the supervision and in consultation with University faculty and staff.

Internship opportunities in include architectural, commercial, and residential design firms, facility management companies, retail office/residential furniture showrooms, and design resource vendors. Some examples of companies in Madison include: Brownhouse, Designer’s Studio, FLAD, InteriorLogic, Marshall Erdman & Associates, Strang, and others.

Time Commitment

Interior Design = 200 hours required (3 credits required; 80 hours for the first credit, 60 hours per additional credits; 3 credits during any given semester; up to 8 credits total possible)

Application Process:

     -  The Internship Materials must be TYPED!

1.  Research Internship Opportunities/Apply for Internships

      -Check Out Current Internship Opportunites

2.  Complete Internship Verification Form, and submit Resume, Job Description, Copy of an Acceptance Letter, e-mail or other correspondence offering you the position by, and a 1 page response to the following questions (A:  Why did you select the internship B:  How will this experience effect your overall career aspirations?  C:  What do you hope to gain from this internship experience)

     -  Please submit your Internship documents to Room

        B316 of Sterling Hall or email Mary Braucht (braucht@wisc.edu)

      -  After your internship is approved, you will receive an email from the 

          internship coordinator with registration details.                                                 

Spring 2012 Internship Placement Verification Documents are due

Friday, January 20th

No application will be considered after the deadline. No exceptions.

If you need an extension  - contact internship coordinator BEFORE the deadline.

4.  Attend Internship Orientation Session.  Internship Orientation Sessions will be the week of January 23rd thru January 27th.  Times to be Determined.
