Tutoring Services & Campus Resources

The Student Academic Affairs Office is committed to helping undergraduate students succeed. The Student Academic Affairs Office provides academic support through tutoring and referrals to existing support services on campus.

TUTORING

The Student Academic Affairs Office offers academic support for students enrolled in the School of Human Ecology through individual and small group tutoring.

Criteria for receiving tutorial support:

You must be earning a grade of C-minus or less in a current course taught at UW-Madison or have evidence of prior difficulty with the subject.

You must have discussed your performance with the professor and/or TA of the course.

You must complete a Tutorial Request Form, available below, on the Forms page of this web site, and in the Student Academic Affairs Office, Room 135 Human Ecology.

Every effort is made to provide a tutor in a timely manner. Therefore, as soon as you begin to experience difficulty, arrange to see an advisor in the Student Academic Affairs Office and submit a Tutorial Request Form. There is no cost to you for this service.

Tutoring Hints and Guidelines:

The School of Human Ecology pays for up to four hours per week, per subject.

The Student Academic Affairs Office will contact you by phone or email once a tutor is found.

It is between you and the tutor to arrange times and locations for tutorial sessions.

You are expected to attend all sessions that you arrange with your tutor. Please be courteous; tutors are not paid for cancelled or no-show sessions.

Sessions are generally more beneficial if the student is prepared with questions for the tutor.

You will need to sign the Tutor Report Form, which indicates the hours you and your tutor have met each week.

Tutors are not expected to help with last minute exam and paper preparation, nor are they expected to do the work for you.

For questions or to make an appointment to speak with an advisor about tutoring services, call us at 608-262-2608 or stop in the Student Academic Affairs Office, Room 135 Human Ecology.
